Library Adjunct Instructor – Kern Community College District
Basic Function
Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors on a continuous basis. The division can contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises, without waiting for a formal advertisement. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by the respective department supervisors, deans, and/or division chairs.
Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years. The starting salary range for these positions is $66.00/hour; the hourly rate may vary based on the type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.
- Master’s in library science, or library and information science, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and accomplishments. Candidates with such equivalent qualifications must submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCY form (PDF download) along with supporting documents.
- A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree earned overseas must be evaluated by an accredited service.
The screening of candidates will be conducted by a screening committee that reserves the right to limit the number of interviews. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.

- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Have knowledge of computers and a willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
- Show knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
