Construction Instructor - Part-time Adjunct Pool

Basic Function

Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for a part‑time, hourly adjunct instructor pool. The starting salary is $67.00 per hour, varying with assignment type and Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Applications remain active for up to two years.

Representative Duties

This position is part of an adjunct pool used to staff part‑time adjunct positions within the Industrial Technology department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Any bachelor’s degree or higher and at least two years of professional experience
  • Any associate degree and at least six years of professional experience
  • Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment; if a master’s degree is held, the required experience is mandatory. Equivalent qualifications may be judged as equal. Candidates seeking equivalency must submit the appropriate form with supporting documents.
  • A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning and service to a diverse student population.
  • Ability to effectively work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Ability to develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
  • Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency.
  • Ability to assess student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
