Position

TEACHER, DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION, MT. VERNON ELEMENTARY (KINDERGARTEN) –  School Year

Qualifications
  • Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in the area of assignment
  • Bilingual Authorization in Spanish (BILA)
  • Evidence of success working with students, parents, colleagues, and other adults

Job Goal

To meet Dual Immersion Program goals established by the District in relation to specific needs of students designated to this program.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Establishes positive and respectful relationships with students and families to create supportive and inclusive classroom environments that promote learning for all students
  • Designs and delivers lesson plans that align with grade‑level state standards, rigor, and meet the needs of diverse learners, demonstrating teacher clarity and clear measurement of student learning
  • Administers summative and formative student assessments, analyzes and uses results to develop lessons that progress students toward meeting learning goals
  • Differentiates instruction to meet needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners, target‑language learners, students with disabilities, and students with different learning styles in the classroom
  • Provides in‑school intervention and enrichment opportunities to meet students’ specific linguistic and academic needs
  • Develops students’ critical thinking, problem‑solving, creative, collaborative, and communication skills at high levels to shape resilient learners
  • Communicates regularly with students and families about child’s progress
  • Collaborates with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student learning and build strong professional learning communities
  • Participates in ongoing professional development, staff meetings and other required meetings to improve teaching skills and stay current with best practices in education
  • Establishes and manages positive classroom behavior systems that ensure safe, inclusive, and productive learning environments
  • Develops reasonable and specific rules/expectations of classroom behavior and procedures which are implemented consistently and conducive to high levels of learning
  • Guides the learning process in collaboration with parents toward achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear performance goals for all lessons, units and projects that are communicated to students
  • Serves as child’s advocate, making referrals to school‑wide social and academic services
  • Maintains and communicates accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulations, including cumulative record folders, 504’s, IEPs, attendance reports, and any other reports to parents
  • Upholds and enforces school expectations, Administrative Regulations, and Board policy
  • Supervises students outside classroom including yard duty, assemblies, athletic events, extracurricular activities and all emergency drills to ensure student safety
  • Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Salary

$59,232 – $118,012 annually (182 day). All teacher salaries are contingent on verified years of experience and education plus a $2,000 bilingual stipend.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District’s “Improvement of Professional Services” handbook, Board Policies and Procedures, and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable.
