Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately, if a need arises, without waiting for advertising. Applicants who meet minimum requirements will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs. Applications remain active for up to two years.
Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary is $65.00/hour; rates may vary based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office for details.
Representative Duties- This pool will be used to staff assignments at Bakersfield Community College Main Campus.
- Assignments may include teaching at other campus sites, day/evening classes, weekends, large classes, distance learning, and utilizing multiple teaching methodologies.
- Other duties include maintaining subject matter currency, curriculum development and revision, using computer and multimedia technology, and participating in professional activities.
Any bachelor's degree or higher with two years of professional experience, or an associate degree with six years of professional experience. Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment if the applicant holds a master's degree. Candidates with equivalent qualifications must submit an Application for Equivalence with supporting documents. Degrees from outside the U.S. must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service.
Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds is required.

- Curriculum development skills, including delivery via various modalities.
- Participation in recruitment and articulation activities.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to maintain subject matter currency and assess student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies.
