The successful applicant will provide instruction in a full range of Anthropology courses. Other duties include:
- Participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Social Science department
- Maintaining subject‑matter currency
- Developing and revising curriculum
- Using computer and multimedia technology
- Collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline‑specific professional activities
- Master’s degree in anthropology or archaeology; or
- Bachelor’s in anthropology or archaeology AND Master’s in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics, or paleontology; or
- Possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Anthropology at the California Community College level; or
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and accomplishments (equivalence form required)
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- Effective collaboration with colleagues in a diverse teaching environment
- Work with students of varied skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals
- Curriculum development, including online and blended modalities
- Recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities
- Oral and written communication skills
- Subject‑matter currency maintenance
- Assessment of student learning outcomes
- Computer skills and willingness to explore new technologies
- Commitment to the California community college mission
