Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of daily transportation, hauling, and support operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and environmentally responsible waste handling practices
  • Direct, analyze, and continuously improve operational metrics, processes, procedures, and service performance to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to the development and management of Division and District operational budgets, applying best practices in financial monitoring and performance measurement
  • Lead thorough root cause investigations for incidents and injuries, ensuring timely corrective actions, training, retraining, documentation, and disciplinary measures as appropriate
  • Actively participate in operational leadership activities, including employee selection, coaching, performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions
  • Provide recommendations related to employee compensation, bonus eligibility, promotions, and terminations
  • Develop and execute short-term and long-term operational goals and action plans in collaboration with Division and District leadership, Facility Managers, and Regional Vice Presidents
  • Participate in regular profit and loss reviews to ensure financial targets are met through effective resource allocation, labor control, equipment utilization, and maintenance planning
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with municipal, city, and county agencies to support customer satisfaction, community involvement, and business growth
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to address employee relations matters, strengthen team engagement, and promote a positive workplace culture
  • Support the development, implementation, and oversight of divisional safety programs while monitoring processes, procedures, and costs to reduce risk and improve performance
  • Conduct regular route observations to verify compliance with customer service standards, safety requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations or contractual obligations
  • Monitor routing systems and operational data to ensure optimal utilization of vehicles, equipment, and personnel, including daily route closure and reconciliation
  • Serve as a key point of contact with municipal officials and community organizations to strengthen strategic partnerships and client relationships
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Safety teams to develop and deliver technical and non‑technical training programs
  • Provide oversight of all operational safety training and mentor field supervisors on safety leadership and best practices
  • Respond to critical incidents on a twenty‑four‑hour basis as operational needs require
  • Analyze daily and seasonal workload fluctuations to determine appropriate staffing levels and operational execution
  • Maintain a consistently positive, professional attitude toward leadership, peers, direct reports, and customers

Job Type: Full-time

Skills and Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent professional experience with a background in transportation, construction, or waste services
  • Demonstrated management experience across diverse operational environments
  • Strong project management, resource planning, and operational execution capabilities
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop teams
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency with business and productivity software, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and fluency in English, including reading, writing, and verbal communication
  • In‑depth knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience evaluating operational processes, developing insights, and presenting recommendations to leadership
  • Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of waste industry practices, standards, and procedures
  • Proven ability to build rapport and manage relationships with challenging clients and stakeholders
  • Experience developing and managing budgets and addressing employee relations issues
  • Ability to lead in complex, fast‑paced environments requiring sound judgment, strategic thinking, and urgency
