TORQ COMMODITIES is looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Grain Trader to join our dynamic trading team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing and expanding our grain trading portfolio across multiple markets, focusing on commodities such as wheat, corn, barley, and soybeans. You will leverage your industry experience to drive profitability, build strategic relationships, and stay ahead of market trends.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement trading strategies for grain commodities to maximize profitability
- Originating and executing physical grain trades, including negotiating contracts with suppliers and buyers
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, price movements, and potential trading opportunities
- Manage and optimize a trading portfolio, maintaining a keen focus on risk management and compliance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, processors, and end-users
- Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure smooth delivery and execution of trades
- Participate in industry events and conferences to expand network and visibility
- Collaborate with internal teams, including risk management, finance, and operations, to align trading activities
- Mentor and guide junior traders in market intelligence, trading strategies, and operational processes
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business, or related field
- 5-10 years of experience in grain trading or commodities trading within a reputable trading house
- Proven track record in managing trade portfolios and achieving profitability
- Strong knowledge of global grain markets, supply/demand fundamentals, and pricing dynamics
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, with proficiency in data analysis tools and trading software
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging market environment
- Willingness to travel as necessary to meet suppliers and clients
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages are beneficial
