Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Practitioner (Band
6)
within our Primary Care Mental Health Network Teambased at Ailsa Hospital.

Hours:

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

22.5 hours per week with working days to be agreed between Monday and Friday, 9am-5pm

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

Full UK driving licence is essential to this role.

What you will do:

You will have a registered professional qualification with the NMC and have experience in mental health assessment and care planning with an interest in working with patients with mental health problems in the community and General Practice setting.

Advanced communication skills, well developed risk assessment skills and excellent organisational skills are essential together with evidence of continued professional development.

The candidate may be responsible for patients in partnership with the General Practice team, health and social care partnership services, service users and voluntary groups to support and underpin a seamless journey through the health and social care system to maintain consistently high standards of service delivery and care in a climate of change and redesign. These posts will also line manage Guided Self Help Workers (band
4).

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Professional qualification with NMC.

Degree or equivalent experience.

Clinical and staff supervision responsibility

Post registration experience working within a Mental Health setting

In depth knowledge of common mental health problems and treatments/interventions

Good verbal communication skills

Have up to date knowledge of Child Protection legislation, mental health legislation, Adult Protection legislation, Health and Safety Regulations, Data Protection as they apply to all areas of practice.

Good interpersonal skills

Ability to work as member of a team

Highly motivated
