Role Overview - What is it?
To go beyond the standard expectation of providing a service for residents with great care, to enrich their lives as part of a dedicated and valued supported housing team.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and staff. As well as maintaining the overall presentation of the accommodation and outdoor spaces, you will enhance resident satisfaction, with efficient working practices.
The role will involve all aspects of high-quality responsive property and ground maintenance as well as planned maintenance to a standard defined by the Active Opportunities Pathway service model and tasks that fall under intensive housing management. You will be required to conduct selected compliance checks and tests and you may be required to attend site at other related local properties using company provided vehicles.
It will also involve professional curiosity with the ability to identify and report safeguarding concern and to act as an ambassador for The Housing Network, to promote its mission and values.

Main Duties - What needs to be done?- Carry out scheduled work on void properties to bring back up to a high standard and in accordance with the Council's targets prescribed in the contract
- Complete regular accommodation inspections, ensuring all necessary compliance and health and safety requirements are met.
- Daily use of an iPad and or Laptop along with compliance applications to input and update reporting systems
- Carry out reactive maintenance within prescribed timescales including compliance checks and tests.
- Finishing skills such as joinery, plastering, tiling in order to complete a job
- Painting
- Basic Plumbing (including changing toilet internals)
- Basic carpentry including door hanging (Essential)
- Lock changing (Essential)
- Gardening including fencing
- Window cleaning (internal/ external) as required
- Litter picking and general site inspections
- Bathrooms and kitchen repairs (including changing taps)
- Repairing/replacing broken windows
- Diagnosing heating repairs
- Furniture / Rubbish removals
- Put up curtain poles/blinds
- Reporting Health & Safety incidents
- Reporting Safeguarding concerns
- General cleaning duties
- Problem solving
- Effective communication is vital in your role. You will regularly engage with residents, their families, and colleagues as part of your daily activities. Additionally, you will liaise with contractors, coordinate their services and ensure that work is completed to a high quality and standard
- On occasions, liaison with Local Authority Housing Officers and other Public Sector organisations alongside Charity and Community groups.
Essential:
- Excellent communication
- IT skills and ability to confidently use an iPad
- Basic carpentry including door hanging
- Finishing skills such as joinery, plastering, tiling and painting
- Lock changing
- Gardening/grounds maintenance experience including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, waste control, footpath clearance
- Window Cleaning
- Full UK driving licence.
- Professional curiosity
Desirable:
- Cleaning experience
- Ability to replace double/single glazed units
- Qualified PAT Tester
- An Enhanced Disclosure is required for this position
Essential:
- Basic knowledge of electrics and plumbing
- Understanding of Safeguarding and ability to identify concerns and report them
- Proven track record of carrying out repairs and maintenance work as a multi trade operative in a multi-site environment
- Basic knowledge of gas boilers and electric heating systems
- An understanding of working in a supported housing environment
- Knowledge of general tidying of communal, outdoor areas
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Fire Safety Legislation
- Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation
- Corgi registered
- Driving courteously in a Company vehicle, which is an extension of the workplace
- Wearing uniform and pride and presenting professionally to residents, including the use of all relevant PPE
- Resilient and able to interact with people who have complex needs and can sometimes present with challenging behaviours
- Keen to support colleagues and ensure business is working cohesively and to the same objectives.
