Are you looking to grow into a senior Occupational Therapy role? Or have a change of scene within your clinical work?

We are seeking a motivated, skilled Occupational Therapist to work on Ruby Ward a female acute mental health ward in Aylesbury. You will join a close, occupational and recovery focused service that works as integral and valued members of our multidisciplinary teams.

To be successful you should be confident in your assessment and clinical reasoning skills, be able to manage your time effectively and be a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
  • Conduct initial screening and assessment of all service users, providing intensive short-term treatment as needed.
  • Manage a caseload of clients with complex Occupational Therapy needs, using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Assess and prescribe appropriate equipment and aids to ensure patient safety and independence with advising staff, families, and carers as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate treatment plans, collaborating with other teams within the Trust and third sector organisations when appropriate.
  • Supervise and develop junior team members, including appraisal, caseload management, reviewing interventions, and delegating responsibilities.

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role. Please note if you are based outside of the UK you will need to hold HCPC registration in order to be considered for this role.

Person specification Training/Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Additional sensory training e.g ASI
  • Evidence of mental health specific post registration training/development.g AMPS, PSI
  • Membership of RCOT may include specialist sections
Experience
  • Experience of working with mental health service users in a clinical role
  • Two years post graduate experience working as an Occupational Therapist
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of supervising and developing junior members of staff and students
  • Experience of undertaking audit or quality improvement work
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice
  • Broad knowledge and application of OT in mental health
  • Ability to apply the Model of Human Occupation
  • Ability to relate knowledge of physical health to mental health setting
