Overview
TXM Recruit are supporting a rail business to recruit several Engineering Technicians. You will support the maintenance of a fleet of rail vehicles, carrying out both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and servicing of rolling stock to a high standard and in line with engineering best practices.
- Work in accordance with technical, operational, and environmental procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and maintenance schedules.
- Follow Fleet Standards documentation, including Depot Maintenance Schedules, Technical Instructions, Job Cards, and other issued materials.
- Support productivity and efficiency initiatives within the maintenance team as directed by the Duty Fleet Manager or their delegate.
- Comply with all safe working practices, depot protection measures, and company health & safety requirements.
- Maintain high standards of depot housekeeping and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Adhere to instructions and guidance from supervisors and managers.
- Follow industry rules and regulations, including Network Rail standards where applicable.
- Undertake diagnostic reviews and update electronic documentation as required.
- Perform additional duties as required by management.
- ONC (or higher) qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical layouts.
- Skilled in systematic fault finding and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
- Flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Able to reliably travel to and from work outside of standard public transport hours.
- Willing and able to work a rotating shift pattern (early, late, nights, weekends).
- Commitment to maintaining high company standards.
- Experience with Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs).
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience working in a Traction & Rolling Stock (TRS) depot environment.
- Familiarity with TRS fleet maintenance operations.
- Candidates with backgrounds in Automotive, Aerospace, HGV, PSV, or Armed Forces are encouraged to apply. Relevant transferable skills will be considered.
