Ecology Advisor – Eiffage (EKFB)

Location:

Aylesbury, North Chilterns to Aylesbury (NC2A) area. This role requires a full UK driving licence.

About

The Role

Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM (EKFB) have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high‑speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood.

We are looking to recruit an Ecology Advisor to join the North Chilterns to Aylesbury (NC2A) area. This role is based around the Aylesbury area.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake ecological surveys for legally protected species.
  • Undertake pre‑commencement desk studies and site walk‑over checks.
  • Deliver briefings and Toolbox Talks (TBTs) to site and engineering teams.
  • Complete and review ecological and arboricultural construction permits.
  • Identify and implement ecological site mitigation, including writing precautionary working method statements (PWMSs).
  • Complete ecological technical assessments.
  • Coordinate Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoWs).
  • Coordinate and manage ecology and landscaping subcontractors.
  • Undertake assurance checks of ecological and landscape mitigation sites.
  • Undertake ecological watching briefs.
  • Complete targeted ecological site inspections.
  • Liaise with the construction team to ensure works are undertaken in accordance with all legislation and internal processes / procedures.
  • Investigate site incidents.
About You
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the application of ecological legislation for large‑scale infrastructure projects in the UK.
  • Be meticulous in checking detail whilst recognising delivery priorities, programme need and the anticipated volume of work.
  • Have good inter‑personal skills and be able to develop and maintain good relationships, networks and work as part of a team.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience of negotiating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and the ability to extract key points and communicate this to others.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body working towards chartered status.
  • Holder of a Level 1 (or above) GCN class licence; any other licences welcome.
  • Must hold full UK Driving Licence.
Pre‑employment Checks

Relevant standard employment checks will be undertaken if successful, including reference checks, , driving licence verification, and right to work in the UK. BPSS security clearance will be required as part of the onboarding process.
