Key Responsibilities Curriculum Development and Planning- Design and deliver an engaging History curriculum that adheres to national standards.
- Plan lessons that are inclusive and tailored to the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.
- Provide high-quality, interactive History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Teach a broad range of historical topics, such as ancient civilizations, medieval history, world wars, and modern history.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, technology, and resources to enrich the learning experience.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active student participation.
- Regularly assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments.
- Offer constructive feedback to support student growth and development.
- Keep accurate records of student progress, grades, and achievements.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students at different levels of ability.
- Provide additional support or challenge to help all students achieve their personal best.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and key updates.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and participate in parent-teacher meetings.
- Stay current with the latest developments in history education.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- A degree in Education, History, or a related field (Master’s degree desirable).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization in History for secondary education.
- Proven experience teaching History at the secondary level.
- Strong understanding of historical periods, events, and an awareness of global historical issues.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for teaching and creating a positive, challenging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
