Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Planning

Design and deliver an engaging History curriculum that adheres to national standards.

Plan lessons that are inclusive and tailored to the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.

Classroom Teaching

Provide high-quality, interactive History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Teach a broad range of historical topics, such as ancient civilizations, medieval history, world wars, and modern history.

Utilize a variety of teaching methods, technology, and resources to enrich the learning experience.

Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active student participation.

Assessment and Progress Tracking

Regularly assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments.

Offer constructive feedback to support student growth and development.

Keep accurate records of student progress, grades, and achievements.

Differentiation and Individualized Support

Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students at different levels of ability.

Provide additional support or challenge to help all students achieve their personal best.

Communication and Collaboration

Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and key updates.

Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and participate in parent-teacher meetings.

Professional Development

Stay current with the latest developments in history education.

Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

The Ideal Candidate

A degree in Education, History, or a related field (Master’s degree desirable).

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization in History for secondary education.

Proven experience teaching History at the secondary level.

Strong understanding of historical periods, events, and an awareness of global historical issues.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

A passion for teaching and creating a positive, challenging, and inclusive learning environment.

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
