Sealed Air Corporation is seeking a mechanically inclined General Assembler to join our equipment production team in Ayer, Massachusetts. This position is responsible for assembling mechanical components and equipment according to blueprints, work instructions, and specifications. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on skills, ability to use hand and power tools, and a basic understanding of mechanical systems, and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Assemble mechanical parts and sub‑assemblies using hand and power tools
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and follow work instructions
- Install components such as brackets, fasteners, bearings, and hardware
- Perform basic measurements using tape measures, calipers, and gauges
- Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy and quality
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Assist senior assemblers as needed
- Report defects, material shortages, or equipment issues to supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED, preferred
- Mechanically inclined with basic knowledge of tools and equipment
- Ability to use hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, etc.)
- Ability to read basic blueprints or willingness to learn
- Understanding of basic hardware (metric and standard)
- Good hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to lift to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Previous manufacturing or assembly experience, 1 to 2 years preferred
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems or automotive repair
- Familiarity with torque specifications and measuring tools
- Mechanical aptitude
- Understanding of electrical wiring and schematics, preferred
- Problem‑solving skills
- Ability to follow instructions
