Colyton Grammar School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Visiting Music Teacher (voice) to join our dynamic Music Department. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving musical community where pupils are passionate, engaged, and eager to perform.

Key Responsibilities:

* Teach individual 30-minute singing lessons to pupils across a wide range of abilities and year groups.
* Deliver engaging and high-quality instrumental tuition, tailored to meet the needs and aspirations of each pupil.
* Prepare pupils for concerts, exams, and ensemble participation.
* Support pupils as they prepare for performances as part of the Junior, Chamber or Senior Choir, or as a member of the Colytones.
* Collaborate with the Director of Music, departmental staff, and other VMTs to maintain the highest musical standards.

About the Department:

The Music Department at Colyton is a lively and inclusive hub, offering around 400 instrumental lessons per week and rehearsing 15 ensembles regularly. We present over 20 concerts annually, from major productions like the Choral and Christmas Concerts to smaller, intimate recitals and pupil-led events. Ensembles are run by staff, VMTs, and student leaders, with opportunities ranging from cathedral evensongs to jazz nights, orchestral works to outreach events with local schools.

This position is for one year of maternity cover, with the possibility that the role could continue for one day per week upon return of our current teacher. The current pupil list is 22 pupils receiving lessons each week, but could increase or decrease with demand.

Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience teaching singing to pupils of varying ages and abilities.
* Excellent communication skills and a motivating, supportive teaching style.
* Ability to work independently as a self-employed professional, while integrating into the broader Music Department team.
* A strong commitment to nurturing musical talent and enthusiasm in young people.

Colyton Grammar School offers a friendly, purposeful, and forward-thinking environment where music plays a central role in school life. As a Visiting Music Teacher, you’ll be part of a dedicated and highly regarded team of professionals who share a passion for music education and performance.

You’ll also benefit from:
* A well-equipped department with dedicated teaching and rehearsal spaces.
* Administrative support for lesson scheduling and communications.
* Opportunities to contribute to a rich and varied programme of concerts and events.
* A supportive school community with a strong appreciation for the arts.
