General Marine Operator

Job Description

• Prepares tug towing equipment for berthing, unberthing, and towing operations, ready for ships to complete towing operations in a timely manner.
• Stands watch at the Tug's bow /stern and monitor condition of towing arrangement during berthing/unberthing and advise Tug Captain of impending hazards to ensure smooth operations.
• Carry out daily maintenance of Marine Craft including handling / splicing all types of mooring ropes including its daily maintenance to maintain ropes utilized for berthing/unberthing & towing are safe to use in order to prevent accidents.
• Operates oil spill combating equipment onboard Marine Craft such as pumps, spray arms, and deploy oil spill booms to effectively control the spill and prevent pollution.
• Conducts daily inspections of Marine Craft Life Saving Appliances (LSA) and Fire Fighting Equipment prior to departure from base station to ensure safety of all those aboard.
• Supervises and Operates mooring / towing deck equipment such as capstans, winches and lifting devices such as derricks so that effective ship mooring is maintained.
• Participates in recovery of man overboard and assists in search and rescue operations to save lives.
• Prepares tug for emergency anchoring and maintain instant readiness in all events to ensure the needed operations and performance are maintained.
