General Laborer

Job Description

The General Laborer supports the production team by performing a variety of tasks involved in the manufacturing of cable trays. This includes material handling, machine operation assistance, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced industrial setting. This is a Union position.

• Assist in the setup, operation, and monitoring of machinery used in cable tray production.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
• Safely transport materials, finished products, and supplies within the plant using a forklift or other appropriate equipment.
• Perform basic assembly and fabrication tasks as directed.
• Conduct visual inspections to ensure product quality and report any defects.
• Receive training to operate machinery during high workload periods, vacations, or absenteeism.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks inside the plant and on outside grounds.
• Operate floor scrubbers and empty scrap and waste cans throughout the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing products for shipment.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment safely.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support other departments or tasks as needed to meet production goals.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Certifications:

Forklift Certification

Experience:

Required:

Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus

Preferred:

• Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime if required
