This position is responsible for supervising customer service associates and designated hitters, managing the front end of the store, and making recommendations on overall operations of the Pharmacy and Retail Store. The Emerging Store Manager supports the Store Manager to achieve company deliverables, assumes full store responsibilities in the Manager’s absence, ensures proper merchandising, protects store assets, and drives sales and profitability.

Customer

Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices.
  • Monitor customer service, provide coaching, training, and develop improvement plans for both the front-end and pharmacy.
  • Empower team members to find impactful resolutions, exceeding expectations and building loyalty.
  • Accountable for improving overall customer service metrics.
Operations
  • Supervise store operation and team members, assigning daily activities and delegating tasks.
  • Oversee opening/closing, shift changes, time record approvals, time off, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Collaborate with external partners to advance Walgreens store initiatives and support community outreach.
  • Leverage data, analysis, and team input for fact-based decisions and monitor impact.
  • Control store cash management, including register counts, withdrawals, armored pickups, safe deposits, and bookkeeping.
  • Supervise front end and pharmacy inventory, completing resets, revisions, price changes, and identifying trends for corrective action.
  • Ensure operational feedback from the Store Manager and District Manager is executed through delegation.
  • Maintain store interior and exterior cleanliness, manage repairs and maintenance, and respond to emergencies.
  • Ensure team members can use all computer and technology systems.
  • Provide for team safety and well‑being and utilize the Security Operations Center.
  • Comply with all company policies, legal regulations, and product sale regulations.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Full Store Operation Business Performance Management
  • Independently analyze financial and performance data to create action plans.
  • Use operating statements, KPIs, and tools to engage the team and drive store improvement initiatives.
  • Support the Pharmacy during busy periods, including acting as a pharmacy technician when needed.
People & Performance Management
  • Lead and train team members, providing mentoring, coaching, and career development support.
  • Manage performance: assign responsibilities, develop plans, set goals, observe performance, give feedback, and recognize achievements.
  • Acquire and retain talent, build staffing pipelines, and ensure diversity of future leaders.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviews, and hiring decisions.
  • Ensure proper recruitment, record retention, and training procedures are followed.
  • Establish accountability through performance improvement plans and constructive discipline.
Training & Personal Development
  • Complete Store Manager learning and development program and all required courses, certifications, and training.
  • Monitor own performance, seek continuous feedback, and maintain an Individual Development Plan.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy technician license, if required by state.
Communications
  • Communicate regularly with team members via one‑on‑one talks and group meetings.
  • Assist Store Manager in planning and communicating company and store strategy.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a solid academic record, any major allowed, OR completion of the Walgreens Community Internship Program, or High School Diploma/GED plus two years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, ethics, self‑motivation, strong communication, and business acumen.
  • Completion of the Store Manager training program (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of assignment.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
