Overview
This is a part-time Monitor Unit Secretary Technician position located at West Hospital. The hours are 6 AM-6:30 PM, every 3rd weekend rotation. No call or travel required. The role ensures accurate and complete information is received from patients to facilitate coordination and communication between physicians, unit staff, and ancillary departments. Duties include scheduling daily tests and procedures, maintaining comprehensive up-to-date records of all patient tests and procedures, signing patients in and out of the unit, performing receptionist functions, alerting unit management to issues or needs within the unit regarding policies, procedures, or practices, and supporting clerical duties associated with the Patient Care Unit.
The technician is responsible for cardiac monitoring of patients, including those with technological support such as pacemakers and AICDs, and documents changes in rhythm and reports these changes according to established protocol.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia course; anatomy and physiology courses and/or related courses within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia course and/or related courses required within 90 days of hire.
- Thorough knowledge of arrhythmia recognition.
- Good visual acuity and sustained concentration to effectively observe cardiac rhythms on CRTs.
- Basic computer skills.
- Previous experience with telemetry monitoring or related field is preferred.
