Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is seeking to hire a Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS). The Crisis Intervention Specialist provides crisis intervention services to diverse individuals, families, and other professionals assisting those in crisis. Utilizing contemporary crisis prevention and intervention evidence-based practices, Specialists work as a member of an interdisciplinary team that includes Peer Recovery Specialists, therapists, and community emergency response systems including but not limited to local law enforcement, hospitals, and emergency first responders.
The position consists of a combination of virtual service and face-to-face service in the community, mindful of safety guidelines and risk mitigation procedures.
The CIS position may work non-traditional hours as this position is the member of a Mobile Crisis Team that serves Hendricks County and surrounding areas 24-hours per day, 7 days per week.
Responsibilities- Provide telephonic or walk-in risk/crisis screens and assessments
- Provide mobile crisis interventions for community partners, law enforcement/EMT, or individuals
- Develop and implement individualized safety and prevention plans
- Find and coordinate hospitalization for individuals
- Provide community referrals for individuals in need of housing, medical care, social services, etc
- Complete crisis documentation in the electronic health record per service standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in human services or related field; or
- Associates degree in human services or related field and 2 years previous direct care experience in social services, behavioral health, school based, etc; or
- High school graduate or GED and 4 years previous direct care experience in social services, behavioral health, school based, etc
