Position Title: ESOL Long Term Substitute Teacher K-4 & Middle School
Qualifications:
- Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification (111) Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
- Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in elementary education.
Reports to: Building Principal and/or designee
Compensation: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.
Work Year: Position to begin on or about May 18, 2026, and ends on June 16, 2026 (the last day of the 2025-26 school year. Salary and benefits in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.
Responsibilities: The ESOL Substitute Teacher has the following responsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee:
- Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public School's curriculum, particularly the elementary disciplines.
- Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students’ academic development.
- Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s)
- Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.
- Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
