E&I Technician – Mill
Working with a client seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Electrical (E&I) Technician to support mill operations by ensuring reliable, efficient, and safe performance of all electrical and control systems. Responsibilities- Provide hands‑on technical support for instrumentation and electrical control systems across all manufacturing operations, including:
- Paper machine
- Secondary fiber systems
- Automated warehouse
- Effluent treatment
- Boiler room
- Navigate and troubleshoot process control systems and associated field devices
- Program, assess, and repair PLCs, HMIs, drives, and other control equipment
- Act as a key technical resource for operations and maintenance teams during troubleshooting
- Support installation and startup of instrumentation and control equipment for capital projects
- Maintain accurate and updated backups, documentation, schematics, and drawings for all controlled systems
- Assist with daily E&I activities, scheduled shutdowns, long‑term maintenance planning, and project execution
- Support reliability programs such as thermography, ultrasound, motor/power analysis, and related diagnostics
- Industrial or paper manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting abilities across electrical sensors, switches, controllers, instrumentation, automated valves, transmitters, robotics, motion control, and AC/DC control power
- Ability to create, monitor, and modify PLC and DCS logic
- Comfortable working with plant personnel, engineering teams, and external contractors
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently, and capable of managing multiple priorities with urgency
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, or related field or a vocational certification/diploma in electronic controls, instrumentation, or related technical discipline
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- 1–3+ years of experience as an electrical maintenance technician in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
