The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs – Transportation and Asset Management will serve in a leadership position within the Auxiliary Department and St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School by leading all transportation services. Additionally, this position will lead the collaborative planning and designation of facility rentals and other Auxiliary Department programs, including but not limited to summer camp and after‑school enrichment. This is a full‑time, salaried position.
Afternoon, evening, and weekend hours will be required.
- Be familiar with and adhere to all Texas Department of Transportation laws, mandates, and regulations.
- Lead in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and scheduling of bus drivers for field trips and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain driver records to ensure all drivers are properly licensed, including but not limited to CDL license, physical examinations, safety seminars, drug testing, etc.
- Schedule and manage fleet operations for transporting students to and from field trips and extracurricular activities.
- When necessary, schedule charter buses for transporting students to and from field trips and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain positive relationships with repair shops, charter companies, tow companies, etc.
- Ensure that all drivers keep records for each trip, including seating charts and pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Ensure all vehicles and trailers are properly registered and maintained; schedule and deliver the bus fleet to and from repair shops as needed.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly cleaned and ready for use.
- Serve as a driver when necessary.
- Assist in the purchase of new modes of transportation.
- Confirm receipts and payments of fuel, service, repair, etc.
- Collaborate and communicate with other SMP departments and school leadership to determine facility availability for auxiliary department programs.
- Prior to signing a rental agreement, confirm logistics and necessary equipment with the rental client.
- Schedule janitorial, security, technical expertise, etc., when necessary.
- Ensure the rental agreement has been signed, a verified certificate of insurance filed, and the rental payment made before any rental event.
- Ensure all rental events are added to the school calendar after the rental agreement has been signed.
- Communicate with rental clients to ensure proper event set‑up and equipment needs.
- Serve as the site‑admin during rental events in cooperation with other auxiliary department staff.
- Display positive attitude and pride in work, and represent the organization positively.
- Work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a valid CDL.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with businesses, organizations, and schools; and work with customers, community members, and parents.
