CompensationThis is a hybrid role with consistent administrative pay (30 hours) and additional commission-based earnings through personal training (10+ hours). Annual compensation typically falls in the $70,000+-$80,000+ range, with opportunity to earn more based on training volume.
About the JobWe need you to fill the role of Fitness and Wellness Manager, Personal Training. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried and commission position. Under the direction of the Fitness and Wellness Director, the Fitness and Wellness Manager oversees the Personal Training and Fitness Attendant teams to ensure a high-quality, safe, and welcoming fitness experience for all members and guests. This role is responsible for leading, developing, and evaluating the success of the Personal Training program through strong member communication, consistent follow-ups, and regular review of performance data.
The Manager supports staff accountability while maintaining operational excellence across the fitness floor, ensuring the facility remains clean, organized, and fully operational. Through effective leadership, data-informed decision-making, and a commitment to service excellence, the Fitness and Wellness Manager plays a key role in driving program success, member engagement, and overall department standards.
You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of personal trainers and fitness attendants, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous development.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate personal training and fitness attendant staff to ensure high service and coaching standards.
- Oversee the success of the personal training program through regular review of revenue, client retention, utilization, and performance metrics.
- Ensure strong, consistent communication between trainers and members, including timely follow-ups, progress check-ins, and goal reviews.
- Coach trainers on sales conversations, consultations, and member engagement to drive program growth and retention.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, observations, and performance feedback sessions with trainers and attendants.
- Coordinate the timely promotion of personal training services and programs, ensuring all marketing materials and communications are approved by and distributed in collaboration with the Marketing team.
- Review and analyze budget reports, provide key data insights to leadership, and take a lead role in budget planning and forecasting for the Personal Training program and Fitness Center needs.
- Collaborate with leadership to set goals, benchmarks, and strategies for program improvement.
- Ensure accurate documentation, scheduling, and use of systems related to client management and training sessions.
- Address member feedback, concerns, and escalations in a professional and timely manner.
- Support daily fitness floor operations and collaborate with Fitness Attendants to maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage fitness-related supplies and equipment to ensure availability, organization, and efficient use.
- Identify, report, and follow up immediately on damaged or malfunctioning equipment to ensure member safety and minimize service disruptions.
- Oversee and support payroll processes for the Personal Training and Fitness Attendant teams, ensuring accurate timekeeping, commission tracking, and timely submission in compliance with organizational policies.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Serve as a role model for the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to member experience.
- Current nationally recognized personal training certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA)
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a personal trainer, with demonstrated success in client results and retention
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and provide feedback to both staff and members
