the Team
The Jackalope Studio leads the development of engaging land‑based slot machines, contributing to Bluberi’s dynamic R&D department in concert with other development teams across the U.S. and Canada. Our passionate team of seasoned professionals spans multiple disciplines, including mathematics, visual arts, software engineering, game design, audio engineering, and quality assurance. Operating in a hybrid model in Austin, TX, we balance seamless collaboration on target hardware with the flexibility to foster creativity and efficiency.
SummaryBluberi is seeking a highly motivated individual who has a passion for game development to be part of our Austin team. The Technical Artist develops and maintains efficient asset workflows, ensuring the seamless integration of game assets while crafting stunning visual effects and animations. They oversee content performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and create custom tools, scripts, and shaders to enhance workflows.
EssentialFunctions
- Manage content pipeline
- Develop and maintain an efficient asset workflow in Unity for casino game assets, including game symbols, characters, textures, animations, and VFX.
- Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and developers to ensure seamless integration of assets and code.
- Implement and optimize particle systems and procedural animations to enhance visual quality and performance.
- Drive performance optimization
- Ensure game content adheres to performance budgets across target platforms.
- Use Unity and tools such as the Profiler to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Provide solutions in content management and optimization to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Create tools & game features
- Use Unity tools, scripts, and editor extensions to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Implement game features and create custom shaders using Shader Graph or HLSL.
- Collaborate with the game platform team to integrate plugins and new features seamlessly.
- Share technical expertise
- Contribute to technical best practices and knowledge base regarding the Unity UI system, animations, particle systems and VFX, shaders, and materials.
- Research and implement new techniques and technologies to enhance graphics and optimize performance.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, graphic arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Familiar with common game engines and development pipelines for content creation and demonstrated experience with Unity.
- Demonstrated ability to script one or more common languages like Python, JavaScript, C# or C++ for content and tool development.
Education and Experience
- 1+ years of professional experience working as a technical artist with demonstrated experience with Unity.
- Demonstrated experience in tools like Spine, Adobe Suite, and 3D software.
- Basic understanding of the casino gaming industry and competitive products.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills; works well with creative conflict in a consensus‑based, collaborative environment.
