Overview

Senior Software Engineer (front end focused) will design, develop, and deliver high-quality applications using Angular, Java, Spring Boot, and AWS. You will collaborate closely with product, architecture, and backend engineers to build scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions. Experience in the fintech industry is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Develop high-quality, responsive web applications using Angular
  • Build scalable and resilient backend services with Java and Spring Boot
  • Design and deploy cloud-native solutions on AWS
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and UX teams to deliver end-to-end features
  • Ensure code quality through test driven development (TDD), code reviews, and best engineering practices
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural decisions

Position location: Austin, TX

Role Requirements
  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
  • Strong frontend skills with Angular (Type Script/JavaScript)
  • Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and REST/microservices
  • Solid experience with AWS (Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, S3, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, and modern Dev Ops practices
  • Strong problem-solving and system design skills
Preferred Skills
  • Fintech experience (payments, risk, compliance, banking, etc.)
  • Knowledge of security, authentication, and regulatory considerations
  • UI/UX awareness and ability to work with design systems
  • AWS Developer or Solutions Architect certification.

Work Shift

HYBRID - Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.

Salary

Annual base salary range is $110, USD per year. Total on-target compensation includes a base salary and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
