About Us
We are a pioneering defense startup founded by former Navy electrical engineers with a strong background in robotics and software development. Our team is building a small, autonomous gun turret that leverages advanced computer vision and control systems to detect and neutralize small drones and loitering munitions. This is a technically challenging environment where innovation and problem-solving are essential.
With an engineering-first culture, we prioritize technical excellence and real-world impact. Backed by the founders’ previous successful ventures, our goal is to create cutting-edge technologies that redefine autonomous defense systems.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to help develop high-performance, reliable embedded systems. You will design firmware for microcontrollers, create electrical schematics, and optimize software and hardware for real-time autonomous applications. This role is central to bringing our advanced defense systems from concept to reality.
What You’ll Do- Develop Real-Time Embedded Software: Design and implement C++ firmware for autonomous systems, focusing on real-time responsiveness and efficiency.
- Design Electrical Systems: Interpret datasheets for microcontrollers and ICs, create schematics, and define requirements for embedded and power circuits.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear, detailed design documentation, including schematics, block diagrams, pseudocode, and test protocols.
- Test & Debug Systems: Perform lab and field testing, troubleshoot hardware and software, and optimize system performance under real-world conditions.
- Optimize Performance: Continuously improve firmware efficiency, reduce power consumption, and ensure robustness on hardware-constrained platforms.
- Experience: 3+ years in firmware and electrical design, including schematic creation and embedded software development.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Embedded Circuit Design: Knowledge of microcontroller control systems, motor drives, and power conversion.
- Testing & Validation: Experience with testing, validation, and methodologies to meet high-reliability or military standards.
- Embedded Software: Strong C++ skills for real-time, safety-critical embedded systems;
Python experience for scripting. - Robotics & Systems Integration: Experience deploying control software on robotic or autonomous systems, integrating sensors, actuators, and hardware.
- Embedded Linux or RTOS experience, including custom kernel development.
- Familiarity with networking and communication protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, UART, I2C).
- Expertise in optimizing high-performance, low-latency, power-constrained embedded systems.
