Comptroller - Front-end Web Applications Developer (Reopen)

Join the Web Applications Tax and Reporting development team in the Information Technology division. You will build visually stunning and seamlessly functional web applications for our application portfolio. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to turn design mockups into reality and work with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and QA to deliver the best user experience across our technology stack.

On a day‑to‑day basis you will design and implement code, write unit tests, document, adhere to standards, attend design and code reviews, debug, and troubleshoot issues. You must have extensive knowledge of stateless web applications and associated security controls and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Perform coding tasks in React.js and related technologies based on business requirements, designing and coding applications adhering to established architecture, design & coding standards.
  • Oversee and perform unit testing and integration testing of applicable changes, including implementation, environment preparation, documentation, coordination, and monitoring.
  • Mentor other developers on advanced technical solutions and tools.
  • Analyze, research, and interpret business requirements to document technical requirements and develop technical specifications.
  • Document current or proposed software applications; participate in status, training, requirements, design, and review sessions; create written proposals for improvement.
  • Respond to problems in an on‑call situation 24 hours a day during a rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Five (5) years’ full‑time work experience in the design and coding of full‑stack applications utilizing React.js and JavaScript; three (3) years’ experience in a microservices environment developing RESTful API endpoints.
  • Four (4) years of experience writing unit and E2E tests to ensure 100% test coverage.
  • Three (3) years’ experience with JavaScript (ECMAScript 6+).
  • Two (2) years’ experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or management information.
  • Six (6) years’ experience with modern JavaScript microframeworks (React.js, Vue.js, etc.) implementing highly scalable, high‑throughput web applications in a large‑scale enterprise environment.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in application design for mobile‑first web applications including HTML5, CSS3, and the Bootstrap/MUI framework.
  • Experience in mobile‑first development concepts.
  • Experience with 508 compliance, specifically for responsive design.
  • Understanding of Service‑Oriented Architecture and microservices.
Substitutions

One (1) additional year of experience in design and coding as stated above may substitute for thirty (30) semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).

Work Hours

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 40‑hour week, Monday – Friday. Occasionally work additional hours on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, including working on‑call 24 hours a day during a rotation. Hours may change based on business need.

Teleworking

Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in‑office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office 1 day/month, 3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.
