Java Server Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Java Server Developer in Austin, TX (onsite). Are you an early-career Java Developer (1-3 years of experience or strong internships) eager to build and maintain real-world applications? What You’ll Do

• Design, enhance, and maintain backend services and APIs for core applications, including data integrations and reporting features
• Build robust, user-focused application logic and business rules to support client needs
• Write clean, modular Java code aligned with best practices, contributing to high-impact, client-facing features

How You’ll Work

• Collaborate with analysts, application owners, and UI engineers to deliver thoughtful, end-to-end solutions
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and agile ceremonies to drive technical quality
• Engage actively by asking questions, sharing ideas, and using feedback for continuous growth

Problem Solving & Maintenance

• Support and maintain existing offerings, focusing on user experience, stability, and long-term maintainability
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across development and production environments
• Improve platform stability, performance, and security, including RESTful services and backend data integrations
• Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities, keeping systems aligned with modern best practices
• Write clear documentation and contribute to internal tools and team knowledge

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 1-3 years of Java development experience, or strong internship experience
• Strong interest and experience in application development (not infrastructure or data engineering)
• Familiarity with Spring or Hibernate is a plus
• Basic understanding of relational databases like MySQL
• Comfortable using Git and working in an agile development environment
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn

Note:

This role is focused on server-side application development. Experience with data pipelines, Kafka, or big data tools is not required and not the focus of this position.

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
