Embedded Systems Engineer

Stelvio Group is working with an industrial technology business operating in the rail and transportation space to hire an Embedded Systems Engineer. This role sits within a growing hardware and firmware team and focuses on developing and supporting next-generation IoT sensor products deployed in demanding, real-world environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop and support firmware for embedded IoT sensors used in freight rail applications
• Integrate and optimise wireless communication protocols, including LoRa and BLE
• Design and refine filtering and signal processing solutions for noisy, industrial conditions
• Debug and resolve system-level issues across firmware and hardware boundaries
• Contribute to firmware standards, including code quality, testing, and documentation
• Collaborate with hardware and product teams on system-level design decisions
• Support continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies and approaches

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years’ experience in embedded firmware development
• Hands-on experience with low-power embedded systems
• Practical experience with LoRa and BLE in production environments
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ on embedded platforms (e.g., ARM Cortex‑M)
• Experience working with RTOS and/or bare-metal systems
• Solid debugging skills using oscilloscopes, JTAG, and similar tools

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Zephyr RTOS
• Experience with signal processing or vibration analysis
• Background working on IoT or sensor-based products
• Experience taking products from concept through production
