Director of Engineering — Profitable Video Mar Tech SaaS 🦄
Join to apply for the Director of Engineering role at Vidalytics.
If you want to join a profitable, high‑growth, bootstrapped Mar Tech SaaS, where you will lead our talented engineering team and be tasked with shipping code quickly while scaling both the team and the product, then this is THE job for you.
We’re – a video marketing platform for entrepreneurs. We’re 9 years old 🎂 and growing consistently each year. *
- Report to the CPO
- Manage an 11‑person tech team (and growing)
- Work with 31 other high‑performing individuals from different departments
- Serve as the top technical leader, reporting directly to the CPO
- Kick ass, and continue to grow with us as we scale
This is a rare chance to step into a leadership role in a startup, where you can grow with us but all early pain of achieving product‑market fit, revenue, profitability, and the team is already done. We’ve really done all of the hard work for you!
You’ll get to work on at‑scale video delivery, big data, high‑load infrastructure, microservices, and a Mar Tech SaaS.
The engineering team is largely in Central & Eastern Europe (Poland to the Balkans to Ukraine). 99% of the engineers currently on the team are from Ukraine, even though they’re not all living there at the moment.
Your new tech team includes:- 8 Sr Frontend Engineers (2 focused solely on our hls.js player)
- Dev Ops outside agency (with the goal of bringing it in-house in the near future, but up for discussion with the right candidate)
- GCP Infrastructure (GKE)
- PHP is the dominant language
- Microservices in Slim PHP
- Monolith written in Laminas (Zend) with some Symfony components
- React v.18 web app

Every single month Vidalytics is doing…
- 10s of millions of video plays
- 1 billion requests to our data loggers
- Around 3 petabytes in bandwidth transfer
- You are super tech savvy – especially with our tech stack: PHP, React, microservices & GCP.
- You’ve run tech teams in the past, scaled them, and had them deliver code regularly.
- Agile is your middle name – you keep everything in Jira, with estimates, stand‑ups, and can tell us a velocity we can rely on.
- Accountable to deadlines and results. You get results, even when the unexpected arises.
- Team empowerment approach: guide members, not command and control; constantly raise collective knowledge.
- You have strong emotional intelligence (EQ) – you handle tough convos without stress, anger, or attacking people.
- You embody Vidalytics’ values (see below).
- You are reliable: you show up when you say you will, and get shit done.
- Ownership & accountability – you take ownership of issues and see them through to the end, even if they “don’t belong to you.”
- “Figure it out” skill – you can dive into unseen code and debug gnarly problems.
- Shipping code – our goal is weekly releases or more frequent; align the team to ship features fast with minimal bugs or scalability issues.
- Be the ultimate authority on our system (in time) – help unravel gnarly bugs and issues.
- Architecture – help ensure our code base is scalable.
- Lead & manage the tech team – oversee all people’s work, deadlines, and explain delays.
- Head up tech strategy – with the Head of Product & the CEO balance features and tech debt, delivering value while maintaining reliability.
- Avoid excessive complexity and over‑engineering – keep the system simple yet powerful.
- Hire new engineers – interview, evaluate, and hire best candidates with the recruiter.
- Final line of support – Tier 4 for truly gnarly bugs; train the team and document fixes.
- Empower and scale the team – give devs what they need and stay out of the way.
