Senior Software Engineer - PHP/Go
Join the Commerce team as a Senior Software Engineer - Backend supporting the Feedonomics Platform. This fully remote role sits on a cross‑functional Backend Engineering team delivering core infrastructure components that power our high‑performance, data‑intensive SaaS platform.
What You’ll Do- Collaborate on the architecture, design, and development of scalable and highly available applications and services.
- Solve complex infrastructure‑related problems with code, providing post‑release support for scalable applications.
- Identify and implement enhancements to Dev Ops practices and tooling, leveraging automation to streamline application development and deployment.
- Drive technology design and articulate architecture solution options to product owners and Engineering leadership.
- Conduct post‑mortems to analyze and prevent repeat failures.
- Champion Continuous Improvement in end‑to‑end infrastructure and systems.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes that solve concrete business problems.
- Become a domain expert who follows industry trends and applies best practices to contribute to continuous improvement of those practices.
- 5+ years of programming experience in backend languages.
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 2+ years experience with PHP (Strongly preferred), Python, GoLang, Java or similar programming language.
- 2+ years experience with MySQL or similar technology.
- Strong understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability.
- Strong understanding of various communication protocols (TCP, RPC, etc).
- Strong understanding of Distributed Systems.
- Experience in Caching technologies is a plus (e.g. Redis or Memcached).
- Dev Ops experience preferred.
- Experience with Full‑stack observability tools like New Relic is strongly preferred.
- Workable understanding of Linux operating systems; experience with modern CI/CD and containerization tools like Docker.
- Ability to perform time and memory complexity analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications. (Pay Transparency Range: $112,000- $190,000)
