Texas DPS is seeking skilled and experienced FAA-Certified A&P Technician to join our maintenance team. This role supports the Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft fleet, which includes Airbus AS350 (H125), EC145, Bell 407

GXI, and Bell 412EP helicopters;
Cessna 206 and 208 airplanes;
Pilatus PC-12;
King Air 350. The position involves inspection, diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on fixed-wing and rotary aircraft to ensure operational readiness for public safety missions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must hold a currently effective FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate and demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience exercising the privileges of that certificate.
  • Must meet 14 CFR 65.83 recency of experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, aircraft systems, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical data, schematics, and service publications.
Specific Capabilities
  • Proven knowledge, experience, and capability to conduct at least one of the following aircraft‑specific inspections or maintenance tasks with minimum support or supervision:
  • 100‑hour inspection on an Airbus H125
  • 100‑hour inspection on a Cessna 206.
  • 200‑hour inspection on a Cessna 208.
  • 300‑hour inspection on a Pilatus PC‑12.
  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a King Air 350.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications on aircraft airframes, powerplants, systems, and components.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and avionics issues using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Read, interpret, and apply technical data from aircraft maintenance manuals (AMM), illustrated parts catalogs (IPC), wiring diagrams, service publications, and engineering drawings.
  • Remove, install, and test aircraft components, engines, propellers, hoists, landing gear, flight controls, and other police mission systems.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and document all work performed in accordance with FAA regulations and DPS policies.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet FAA Part 43.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and paperwork for traceability and airworthiness compliance.
  • Collaborate with pilots, inspectors, quality control, and other technicians; may supervise apprentices or junior mechanics.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Participate in shift work, overtime, and on‑call duties as required.
