Installation Technician, General Labor
Description
Technicians need to be available to help pull cable and terminate keystone-style jacks at a large construction site.
Responsibilities- Pulling, terminating, and testing Cat5/6 and fiber optic cables
- Installing other cabling infrastructure (racks, cabinets, etc.)
- Installing network racks and cabinets in server rooms
- Review all job documentation for assigned projects, including:
- Floor plans – equipment locations
- Reflected ceiling plans
- Conduit call‑outs
- Wall elevations
- Signal flow diagrams
- Cable pull schedules
This job requires the employee to regularly stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl, and stoop. The employee must regularly use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on a keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Use of power tools is required, and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Must have PPE before starting: hard hat with chin strips (costs $20–$200, may use an inexpensive model), safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes, vest
- Looking for techs with positive attitudes and great communication skills
- Tool pouch
- Pencil/pen/sharpie
- Packet/box knife
- Wire strippers
- Impact tool (punchdown for 66 and 100 block)
- Flashlight or headlamp
- 10‑in‑1 screwdriver
- Security bit screwdriver
- Torpedo 9" magnetic level
- Hammer
- Channel locks
- 25‑foot tape measure (minimum)
- Diagonal side cutters
- Long‑nose pliers
- Drywall saw
- Low‑voltage snips
Intermediate Level
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
