Summary:
To install, maintain, and repair college electrical equipment.
Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
1) Completes electrical projects, some of which require engineering and permits. Projects include installing transformers, panel boards, and branch circuit wiring; bends and installs various types of conduit; installs receptacles and switches.
2) Maintain, repair, and install parking lot lighting and outdoor building lights district wide. This includes working at heights above 55 feet.
3) Installs transformers, panel boards, and branch circuit wiring; bends and installs various types of conduit; installs light fixtures, receptacles, and switches; installs, maintains, and repairs motor control circuits; replaces and repairs outdoor lighting including parking lot pole lights to a height of 50 feet.
4) Performs preventative maintenance on equipment; remodels electrical systems as needed.
5) Designs and implements Lockout/Tagout procedures at all campuses.
6) Orders and restocks electrical parts.
7) Inspects work to ensure compliance with the national electrical code, city electrical code; read wiring schematics.
8) Responds to after hour calls on a rotating basis with other electricians.
9) Follows latest edition of National Fire Protection Association 70E safety protocols.
10) Maintains and operates a college vehicle and operates heavy equipment such as forklift and boom lift.
11) Updates information for electrical drawings and labels equipment.
12) Works as a member of a team to develop and improve policies and procedures that relate to worker safety and productivity.
13) Complies with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices.
14) Maintains and trouble shoots automated interior lighting controls.
15) Makes up ends and tests data cable, i.e. Cat 5 & 6.

* Electrical applications for high and low voltage electrical systems.

* Ability to make up ends and test data cable, i.e. Cat 5 & 6.
* Required to be subject to on-call duties and respond to emergencies after hours, weekends, holidays, and during emergency closures.

Technology Skills
* Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Required Work Experience
* Two years related work experience as a licensed journeyman electrician.
Preferred Work Experience
* Experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated interior lighting controls.
Required Education
* High school diploma or educational equivalent.
