Job Description & How to Apply Below

Freedom Solar is one of the largest solar installation companies in the United States. Founded in Austin in 2007, our residential business serves Texas and Florida, and our commercial business has a nationwide reach. Our strong reputation in the industry is based on our dedication to quality craftsmanship and outstanding customer service. At Freedom Solar, our mission is to enable our customers to live more powerfully by harnessing clean, affordable, and reliable energy from thesun.

We take great pride in living by these 6 core values:

Pride in Quality Craftsmanship

Go Above and Beyond

Put People First

Have a Humble Heart

Give a Damn

Shoot Straight

At Freedom Solar, we have built a customer-focused, turnkey solar installation experience that is unusual in the industry. Unlike most solar companies, we serve our customers through the entirety of their solar journey, from marketing and sales, to installation, to service and warranty coverage. As we have scaled, we have remained true to our startup roots, with dedication, creativity, resourcefulness, and speed inherent to our culture.

We care deeply about our customers and the environment, and everything we do reflects that. And we aspire that our team emulates and enhances this culture.

Job Duties:
  • Observe and Assist Electrician - Electrician helpers take instruction from senior electricians, who rely on electrician helpers to complete electrical projects. A Licensed Wireman, Journeyman or Master Electrician will give electrician helpers written or verbal instructions, which the electrician helper follows as directed.
  • Follow Safety Protocols - Given the dangers inherent in the electrical trade, electrician helpers follow all relevant safety codes and guidelines while assisting with the installation and servicing of electrical equipment. They wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment and adhere to job-specific safety protocols at all times.
  • Maintain Tools and Inventory - Journeyman and master electricians have a wide variety of tools and equipment, and electrician helpers ensure that all necessary tools are on site and readily available during the project. Electrician helpers keep electrical parts and materials organized and will transport tools and materials to the electrician as needed.
  • Prepare and Clean Work Site - Before a project begins, electrician helpers assist with cleaning and preparing the workspace for the electrician. After the project, electrician helpers clean and tidy the work area, removing unused materials, dust, and dirt as needed.
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned by Electrician.
Education and Experience

Required:
  • Apprentice Electrician License required
  • OSHA 10 required.
  • NABCEP Installer or Certificate of knowledge is a plus, but not required
  • Previous solar installation experience strongly preferred
  • A good driving record and a Valid Drivers License

  • Ability to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday
  • Must be comfortable with heights and working in hot and cool climates

We understand you may be a great candidate without fitting all our preferred experience, knowledge, skills, and attributes. And you may have other skills that are valuable for the role, but which we haven’t thought of. Because we recognize this and we value diversity of thought, experience, and background, we still encourage you to apply.
