Primary Responsibilities And Duties- Install mechanical joint water lines, bolt water lines, and install air release valves and inline valves.
- Grade for flow of sewer line pipe.
- Lay ductile water lines and PVC sewer pipe, setting lines and grade for water line/sewer, prep grade for water lines/sewer lines, install water lines with gaskets and mechanical joints, backfill waterline/sewer line ensuring positive flow.
- Plan pipe installation or repair according to specifications.
- Align and position pipes for welding or sealing.
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements and specifications.
- Calculate and adjust grade using a level and laser.
- Select type and size of pipe and related material based on job specifications.
- Measure and mark pipes to required length for cutting and threading.
- Cut, thread, hammer and weld pipe to specifications using saws, pipe threaders, and benders.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints.
- Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement through potholing and/or excavation.
- Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
- Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
- Grout and clear manholes.
- Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure hydrostatic testing, observation, or other testing methods.
- Perform any and all other duties assigned.
- Professional construction sites requiring verbal communication with site persons, reading printed materials, signs, and directions.
- Stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions; lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery, and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around, or otherwise position one’s self around the required work and safety requirements.
- Work outdoors, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Possible exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines, and dust/debris.
- Full‑time position with occasional overtime, weekend work as job duties demand.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two to three years of related experience laying underground water lines, sanitary or storm sewers required.
- Three or more years of related experience preferred.
