Overview
Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is the leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile on-site fleet service for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. We service customers using our 50+ nationwide service centers and provide 24/7 in-house call-center support, scheduled maintenance, and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime. We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
Responsibilities- Perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, etc.).
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems, including electrical/Brake/Cooling systems, air conditioning, engine electronics, driveline components, and more.
- Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments; road test vehicles to verify repairs.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment.
- Manage parts inventory and operate the company-issued service truck; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, or meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and maintain a productive daily schedule.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks; document work performed and parts used on Repair Orders using company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly; obtain necessary approvals for repair estimates and PO numbers.
- Work independently with a high degree of initiative and adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
- High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of related experience; or an alternative combination such as higher-level degree/certification in a related discipline; or 5 years of related experience.
- Possess and provide a set of hand tools required to perform the job.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must meet DOT/FMCSA regulatory requirements and successfully complete a DOT pre-employment background check and DOT physical before employment.
- Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical will be required.
- Minimum age of 21 due to interstate operating authority; valid driver’s license required and ability to obtain/maintain Driver Qualification File.

- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
- Strong communication skills; capable of concise, organized information exchange.
- Ability to determine appropriate tools and equipment, and to judge distances and distances between objects.
- Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches.
- Weekly pay with Friday payroll cycles.
