Step into Your New RoleKleinfelder is seeking a Biologist / Wetland Scientist / Ecologist to assist on various types of projects primarily in the transportation, energy, and commercial markets. The successful candidate will have experience conducting field assessments for wetlands, threatened and endangered species, and other related projects in the natural resources sector. Approximately 90% of the time will be dedicated to fieldwork, proposal development, and report preparation.
Responsibilities- Lead in conducting field delineations of Waters of the U.S. (including wetlands) according to USACE standards.
- Lead in conducting biological assessments, surveys, and monitoring for threatened and endangered species.
- Conduct wetland and stream mitigation planning.
- Conduct / assist with Environmental Site Assessments.
- Conduct Section 404 permitting.
- Prepare various types of environmental reports and NEPA documentation.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in plant and wildlife identification, soils evaluation, hydrology, GPS use, mitigation planning, and permit preparation, and be able to work year‑round in adverse climate and field conditions. The position requires good writing and communication skills and a strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with relevant state/federal regulations and client‑specific requirements. A BS in an Environmental, Biological, Ecological Science, or related field is required.
Four or more years of experience in conducting environmental fieldwork and reporting is preferred. The ability to travel (typically short‑term) is required.
