Prep Cook

As a prep cook, your primary responsibility is to assist the kitchen team by preparing ingredients and performing initial food preparation tasks. You play a crucial role in ensuring the availability of properly prepped items for efficient and timely meal service.

Responsibilities
  • Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, chop, and dice vegetables, fruits, and other food items according to specified recipes and kitchen standards.
  • Measuring and Mixing: Measure and mix ingredients, following recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Stock Maintenance: Keep track of ingredient inventory, restock as needed, and notify the chef or kitchen manager of low supplies.
  • Food Safety: Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Station Setup: Set up workstations with necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment for the kitchen staff.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with chefs, line cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth coordination in the food preparation process.
  • Cleaning and Organization: Maintain cleanliness in the prep area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and proper disposal of waste.

    Skills:

    Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring ingredients and following recipes to maintain consistent food quality.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
