Research Scientist, Texas GenAI Center
The University of Texas at Austin is inviting applications for a Research Scientist in the Texas GenAI Center. The position is managed by the Center for Generative AI and may be housed in either the Department of Computer Science or the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering depending on the applicant’s research focus.
Funding for the role is budgeted for three years, with the possibility of continuation beyond that period if additional research funding is obtained. The appointment is full‑time (40 hrs/week) and includes competitive salary and benefits, travel funding for conferences and workshops, and support for independent research.
Responsibilities- Read and write manuscripts for publication in peer‑reviewed conferences and journals.
- Advance collaborative projects with industry partners through the Machine Learning Laboratory’s industry affiliate program, dedicating one day per week to industry‑facing work.
- Present research findings at public forums.
- Collaborate with researchers and students at UT Austin.
- Organize seminars, workshops, and other research activities.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of collaborative experience post‑degree.
- Documented project management experience in a research setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Professional demeanor.
- Ph.D. in a field related to computer science or computer engineering.
- Ten (10) years of collaborative experience post‑degree.
- Understanding of data privacy practices, laws, and IRB/Institutional Review Board approval processes.
$90,000 to $120,000+ (depending on education and experience).
