The Quality Control Manager (QCM) implements and manages the quality‑control (QC) program in partnership with the project superintendent. The QCM coordinates QC engineers across multiple projects, collaborates with the project manager and project superintendent to resolve QC issues, and supports regional quality‑control initiatives. This is a safety‑sensitive role.
Qualifications- Four‑year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, construction management, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5–7 years on large commercial construction projects
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD
- Lead the start‑up and implementation of the six‑step QC/safety process, including the site‑specific quality program, QC plan, quality process log, test register, and quality point files; lead weekly QC meetings
- Assist in developing preparatory meeting agendas and participate in those meetings before each definable feature of work; maintain the project quality process log (QPL)
- Interface directly with owner’s quality assurance and management on all quality‑related issues
- Review initial and follow‑up inspection reports, punch list items, and close‑in inspection results
- Understand contract documents, plans, specifications, and applicable codes; submit and review RFIs to ensure on‑site changes are implemented correctly
- Receive trade partner test and inspection requests, produce a coordinated test and inspection schedule
- Document and submit daily reports of QC activity
- Audit trade partner QC procedures; report chronic problems to upper management
- Select outside testing contractors, verify adherence to testing standards, coordinate third‑party testing agency activities, and schedule source inspections
- Evaluate and develop QC personnel
Moderate work. Exertion up to 50 lb occasionally, up to 25 lb frequently, and up to 10 lb constantly. The role requires walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, reading, speaking, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, typing, and operating computer equipment. Activities include climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps; balancing, stooping, maintaining visual acuity, and operating vehicles as required. The position may involve exposure to varying temperatures and outdoor elements.
