Veterinary Technician – Austin, TX – Full‑time (4–5 days/week, 36–40 hours, occasional Saturdays required)

Westlake Animal Hospital, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is looking for a committed Veterinary Technician to join our 7‑doctor practice. This role offers the support, tools, and resources to elevate your skills while serving a vibrant local community.

About You

You will play an important role in pets’ lives by providing comprehensive care, from outpatient treatments and laboratory tests to surgical assistance and support services, including admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements
  • 1–2 years of clinical experience
  • Must have surgical, anesthesia, and dental experience or be willing to train
  • Willingness to pursue further education and training
Key Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
  • Assist with each hospital function to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow
  • Perform venipuncture and catheter placement
  • Assist with CPR and emergency procedures
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures, including anesthesia preparation, monitoring, and recovery
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with support of practice systems
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs
  • Mentor and support fellow team members
