Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Shock Trauma ICU position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of Trauma ICU experience and working night shifts on a 13-week contract.

• Shock Trauma ICU (TICU) setting within a hospital's North Tower, 3rd floor
• 10-bed unit with a 1:2 or 1:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Unit staffing includes 1 Charge Nurse and 5 RNs per shift
• Common procedures include EVDs/bolts, arterial lines, central lines, and chest tube insertion
• Equipment used includes GE Bedside Monitors and Alaris Pumps
• EMR:
  Meditech
• No on-call required
• Responsibilities include performing and documenting patient assessments, creating and revising care plans, administering and documenting medications, implementing physician orders, and escalating patient issues appropriately
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
• Permanent positions on the unit are available for those interested in future opportunities

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); TNCC or CATN preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Trauma ICU experience required
• Surgical ICU experience is a plus
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
