• Position: Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift (Cardiac ICU nurse, Critical Care RN)
• Location: Austin, TX 78704 (Austin travel nurse opportunity, Texas nursing jobs)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570 - $1650
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: February 23, 2026
• End Date: May 25, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun)
• Unit: 8-bed CVICU (cardiac intensive care unit)
• Patient Ratios: 2:1 and 1:1
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs
• Electronic Medical Record: Meditech (Meditech EMR experience preferred)
• Openings: 1

• License: Active RN license (state requirements apply)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year recent CVICU, ICU, or critical care RN experience (cardiac ICU experience preferred)
• Required: ECMO experience (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) — ECMO RN experience required
• Clinical Skills:
  • Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation (telemetry / arrhythmia recognition)
  • Titration of critical care drips (vasoactive, sedative, analgesic infusions)
  • Hemodynamic monitoring and management (arterial lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz familiarity)
  • Respiratory management: ventilators, BiPAP, tracheostomy care, high-flow/airvo
  • Open heart surgery recovery and post-operative cardiac care
  • Mechanical circulatory support:
    Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), other devices
  • Renal replacement therapy: CRRT/SLED experience
• Preferred: CVICU charge nurse experience
• Professional Fit: Team player with a positive attitude, adaptable to fast-paced critical care and travel nursing assignments

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU (cardiac ICU).
• Manage and monitor patients on ECMO and other advanced life-support modalities (ECMO RN responsibilities).
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic data, escalating changes to the team and providers as needed.
• Titrate vasoactive, sedative, and analgesic infusions per protocol while ensuring patient safety.
• Support care for patients requiring mechanical circulatory support and renal replacement therapies.
• Assist with respiratory management for ventilated and high-acuity patients, including intubation and tracheostomy care.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize cardiac critical care outcomes.
• Support bedside procedures (central line/chest tube insertion, bronchoscopies, tracheostomies, intubation) and provide post-procedure monitoring.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in Meditech EMR.
