  • Work Schedule: On-call rotation including nights, days, weekends, and holidays

  • Travel: Travel between assigned hospitals and facilities; regional meetings/educational events as needed

Job Summary:
The Inpatient RN provides direct patient care in accordance with company policies, compliance programs, and contracted hospital procedures. Practice areas include hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), apheresis, and ultrafiltration.

The Acute Registered Nurse partners with hospitals to deliver safe, effective care that promotes a positive patient experience across diverse inpatient renal replacement modalities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care across multiple renal replacement modalities

  • Supervise Patient Care Technicians (CCHT) and clerical staff

  • Provide direction and education to ICU staff for CRRT

  • Assess patient responses to therapy and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with physicians

  • Communicate patient concerns to physicians, program managers, and hospital nursing staff

  • Deliver safe and efficient care in a timely manner

  • Provide organized shift reports and adjust schedules for critical patient needs

  • Administer and monitor intradialytic transfusions and report adverse reactions

  • Document treatment information in patient and hospital records (ACES)

  • Clean and disinfect dialysis equipment per inpatient renal services policies

  • Conduct dialysis machine alarm testing, safety testing, calibration, and disinfection

  • Participate in QAI activities, staff meetings, and training

  • Act as subject matter expert for dialysis-related complications

  • Report incidents per Adverse Event Report requirements

  • Comply with Code of Business Conduct and all applicable laws and policies

  • Assist with additional projects and duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • Two years Nephrology Nursing experience within the last two years

  • Minimum 2 years inpatient dialysis nursing experience

  • Strong assessment skills for critically ill patients

  • BLS CPR Recognition

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Current appropriate state licensure

  • Must meet practice requirements in the state of employment

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • ACLS CPR Recognition

  • Certification in Nephrology Nursing

  • Certification in Apheresis Nursing

  • Experience educating ICU staff on CRRT

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Direct patient care in hospital environments

  • Exposure to potentially infectious materials

  • Heavy lifting/moving of patients and equipment (with assistance)

  • Lifting chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs

  • Must complete Ishihara’s Color Blindness test (reasonable accommodations considered if failed)
