Responsibilities
  • Counsel and educate cardiac critical care patients and their families concerning health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
  • Document delivery of cardiac critical care and nursing processes in accordance with care standards and network nursing policy.
  • Participate in orientation and education of staff and students.
  • Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies for cardiac critical care patients; perform health assessments, screening, and patient care.
  • Provide direct treatment and management of cardiac critical care conditions via prescriptive authority or referral; engage in discharge planning.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

• Physician’s Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care.
• Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care Nursing.
• Experience caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Critical Care Unit.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast‑paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare delivery team.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range

$125,000+ depending on qualifications.

Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. The position may elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
