Medical Assistant

We are searching for an experienced, energetic and upbeat Dermatology Medical Assistant to perform various office and clinical duties to keep our busy North Austin office running efficiently. A successful candidate will love working with patients and have experience working within a physician practice setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment.
• Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, allergies, and medication list.
• Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician.
• Assures appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures.
• Conducts patient assessments and obtains pertinent medical information for referral to the physician.
• Directs patients from the exam room to the next appropriate station, i.e., treatment room or appointment desk.
• Prepares and stocks exam rooms, orders such supplies as needed and maintains/controls drug samples.
• Assists physicians with exam and procedures as requested.
• Performs lab procedures and processing of lab specimens as needed. Files all labs and outside reports accurately and as needed.
• Maintains all exam room disinfection protocols.
• Assists physician with common dermatology procedures.
• Practice Standard Precautions, including hand washing and disposal of bio hazardous materials.
• Maintains a clean work environment and restocks the supply area as needed.
• Under supervision of physician, gives results of pathology, radiology, laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
• Thoroughly and accurately documents the delivery of care, including physician orders.
• Documents relevant material in medical record for physician to review and sign.
• Under the supervision of the physician, relays practitioner assessment and treatment plan to patient or designated family member.
• Assist with any other staff/team member as requested or needed by the physicians, nurses, Office Managers.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Two (2) + years’ experience in a dermatology practice setting.
• High school degree or GED
• Certified as a Medical Assistant by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Working knowledge of EMA & Care Cloud EMR a plus.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• Must be an organized, detailed and work well independently or on a team.
• Dermatology experience a plus.
