Purpose and Scope

Supports the organization’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the organization’s compliance program, including all regulatory and policy requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Quality
  • Support and drive quality standards by meeting regulatory and accrediting body requirements and practicing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including use of CQI tools.
  • Assist with implementation of quality goals and facility-specific action plans to achieve standards.
  • Ensure outstanding patient care quality as defined by organization goals and policies.
  • Address and act on adverse events and action thresholds in collaboration with facility management.
  • Maintain integrity of medical records and other administrative and operational records.
  • Comply with all data collection and auditing activities.
  • Maintain facility environmental integrity and safety.
Patient
  • Obtain medical history, discuss procedure, answer questions, and perform nursing assessment on the day of the procedure.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding post-procedure care of vascular access.
  • Monitor patient condition before, during, and after the procedure, especially patients with moderate sedation and contrast media injections for potential complications.
  • Act as a patient resource for concerns and questions.
  • Identify and communicate patient issues to facility management as needed.
  • Accurately document patient information from admission to discharge.
  • Confirm written orders, consents, and lab work are completed and documented per facility policies, including lab requisitions, delivery, and reporting.
  • Maintain competency with emergency procedures, initiating CPR and emergency measures as needed.
  • Administer medications and IV moderate sedation per physician orders, complying with all regulations.
  • Act as scrub technologist to assist the physician during procedures, maintaining a sterile technique.
  • Assist with patient workflow by transporting patients as needed.
  • Perform point-of-care laboratory testing per physician orders and compliance.
  • Perform IV insertion as per physician orders.
  • Perform additional tasks designated by the physician, practicing in compliance with state regulations.
Physicians
  • Provide regular and effective communication with physicians as needed.
  • Attend and participate in CQI meetings with physicians, reporting on assigned topics.
  • Assist facility management in verifying instruments and equipment for physicians and staff.
  • Assist the physician with state-required adverse event reports and reporting internally per organization policy.
Maintenance/Technical
  • Operate facility equipment and technology safely and efficiently, including patient monitors, defibrillators, recording devices, sterilizers and computers.
  • Inspect all equipment operation, report malfunctions and maintenance needs to ensure safe operation of vascular access equipment.
  • Inspect operating systems, temperature checks and physical structure, reporting issues to the Facility Manager.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment at all times.
  • Address blood spills immediately per Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
Administrative
  • Assist with efficient utilization of medication, laboratory, inventory, supplies and equipment to achieve cost goals.
  • Assist in developing and revising policies and procedures related to the facility for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with CQI activities including monthly reports and meetings.
  • Assist with medication supply management, inventory, expiration check, and controlled substance records.
  • Complete usage logs for all medications and records of drug disposal per law.
  • Assist with facility supply inventory, ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Examine emergency equipment and supplies, stocking crash cart regularly.
  • Complete medical records accurately prior to patient discharge and perform chart audits.
